4th Partner Meeting and Teacher Workshop in Venice – Setting Goals and Getting Inspired
Author: liga.tuca Date: 31.03.2014

From March 24 – 26, 2014, CISET (The International Centre of Studies on the Tourist Economy) hosted the 4th partner meeting in the beautiful centre of historical Venice. The setting was perfect for reflecting on what has been done in ITEM project so far, setting new goals and targets for the rest of the project period, and getting inspiration from the leaders of event organization in the city of Venice.

During the project manager’s meeting, the partners looked at what has been achieved and discussed the major events in the last phase of the project. Joint master’s programme has been developed and licensed, and main programme components are established. However, a lot needs to be done still in dissemination and testing. In August 2014 Vidzeme University of Applied Sciences will host the summer school in “International Tourism Events Management” which will focus on testing the modules of the new study programme. Dissemination and marketing activities will be implemented from April to September to attract students and promote the innovative results of the programme development. The final conference which will be organized in cooperation with Association of Hotels and Restaurants of Latvia will take place in September and its focus will be on the role of events in the tourism industry.

During the teacher training workshop, leading professionals from the industry in Venice presented their experience and shared the innovative ideas of their professional area. The workshop concluded with an interactive training on teaching and learning styles. Both teachers and project managers admit that the seminar gave a lot of inspiration and good ideas to take back to their classes and implement in the new programme delivery.

Preparation of joint master programme was financed by EU Lifelong Learning Programme within Erasmus Multilateral project International Tourism and Events Management/ ITEM (2012-2014) (527698-LLP-1-2012-1-LV-ERASMUS-EMCR). The joint programme will admit its first students in September 2014.
