Latvian scholarships for studies

Students can apply for a Latvian Government Scolarship for a study period in Latvia. More information can be found here.

The scholarship is limited to the citizens of countries where there is a cooperation agreement with Latvia. See the section Signed Agreements.

Applications will be accepted from students who have successfully completed at least one academic year of studies (at their home HEI or in a Latvian HEI if they already have been studying in Latvia).

Scholarships for bachelor and master studies are granted for a time period up to 10 months (for PhD-students – up to 11 months).

If a student wants to continue her/his studies in Latvia for one more year, she/he has to apply for the Latvian scholarship again. The Latvian scholarship can be awarded not more than two times to one individual.

Students first need to apply for ITEM programme and if admitted, they will receive the invitation letter, neccessary for application for the Latvian government scholarship. The application for the scholarship has to be carried out independently from the application for the study programme. The deadline for the scholarship application is May 1.
