ITEM Programme Accredited in Lithuania
Author: liga.tuca Date: 15.04.2014

International joint master in International Tourism Events Management (ITEM) received accreditation in Lithuania on 2nd of April 2014. The programme is one of the few international joint study programmes in the country.

The challenging process of development of international joint study programmes due to different regulations in partner countries and difficulties of implementation of them result to the limited number of the programmes. The exceptional feature of ITEM programme is perfect combination of high academic purposes through implementation of ICT tools and innovative approach and at the same time definite orientation towards practice. Practical classes, but not internships on Master level tourism study programs were usual in Lithuania. ITEM program is particular and distinct among tourism programs not only in Lithuania and Latvia, but in Baltic Sea countries. Program developers expect that these features will be highly evaluated by potential students.

The process of evaluation of the programmes helps to meet high quality standards. International joint master ITEM program received accreditation in the Centre for Quality Assessment in Higher Education of Lithuania. The Centre was founded by the Ministry of Education and Science of the Republic of Lithuania as an expert institution. The accreditation of new programs held by the Centre is blinded process to ensure transparency and quality of the procedure. Two or more independent professors are revising the programme and evaluating according to defined quality criteria. According to the laws of Lithuania the new programme is accredited for 3 years.
